NEBOSH International General Certificate

The NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (IGC) covers the principles relating to health and safety, identification and control of workplace hazards and the practical application of this knowledge. The IGC syllabus takes a risk management approach based on best practice and international standards, such as the International Labor Organization (ILO) codes of practice. Local laws and cultural factors may form part of the study program where relevant and appropriate.

Who Should Take the IGC Course?

  • People who need a broad knowledge of Health and Safety issues and are based outside of the UK
  • Managers and Supervisors who have health and safety responsibilities and/or advise others on health and safety
  • Employees needing the health and safety skills for employment
  • Individuals who wish to further their career in health and safety

Exam & Assessment

Candidates are assessed by two written examinations and a practical assessment. The practical assessment checks your ability to put into practice the knowledge gained during the course.

There are no prerequisites for this course and no previous health and safety knowledge is required. The course materials and exams are either in French or English, and therefore it is expected that candidates have a strong understanding of the language chosen.
